  • Designed systems
Specifies which system will be calculated (to calculated different systems on various circuits change the settings on each circuit in the producer settings’ window):

    • Heating System

    • Domestic Water System

Important:
Note 1: To run calculations properly at least one checkbox should be selected.
This feature is managed only from the general settings window.

Note 2: Heating system can be calculated also as a cooling transit system.
For these purposes ensure that correct temperature conditions are selected
in the next sheet “Heating System”.

Note 3: Domestic Water System can be calculated both
as a cold water or hot water.
For these purposes ensure that temperature conditions are selected
in the next sheet “Domestic Water System”.

Note 4: Preferences of Circulation Water System will be
available to set in Domestic Water System tab.
  • Building connection

  • Heat losses calculations

    • Calculate heat losses – enable heat losses calculations for the Heating system.
    • Soil temperature [°C] – average ground temperature taken into the heat losses calculations.
  • Junction settings

    • Diameter thresholds – select a limit of pipe diameter that is allowed to use natural bending features of the pipe instead of using elbows for bends in Junctions’ connection.

    • Use pipe in Junction connections – applies only for the Wipex system.

      • If checked, it will replace swivel unions fittings with couplings and pipe, e.g., in between two tee fittings.

Due to limited space in junctions, it is recommended to use swivel union if available in your country portfolio.

  • Trench settings

By default, trenches are numbered according to the order of drawing. Below an example with indication of drawing order:

alt text
* Renumber trenches from the producer – during each calculation the tool numbers the trenches from the producer to the farthest section according to the assumption that the closer to the producer the smaller value it receives, the farthest the largest value. This means that the first trench from the producer will receive number - 1, the next trench from it receives number - 2. If numbers will be adjusted manually to keep them, it is necessary to uncheck this function before calculating.

alt text

  • Assign connectors to trenches – defines to which element – trench or junction are assigned connectors (only Wipex couplings), end caps and connection type elements.

    • If checked, in the bill of materials section and junction preview connectors (couplings), end caps and connection type items will belong to the trenches (pipes)
    • If not checked, in the bill of materials section and junction preview connectors (couplings), end caps and connection type items will belong to the junctions, consumers or producer.

Heating system

The heating system calculations assumptions.

  • Calculation data

    • Flow calculation method:

      • NoOfApart_Nordic – calculations according to number of apartments indicated in Consumers. Method used in Nordic countries. Flow is calculated for each Trench according to set number of apartments. Figure 11. Number of apartments method of the calculations
The number of apartments considered in the calculations is equivalent to the sum of all apartments present in the consumer placed behind the trench.

      • Manual – calculations according to user’s data, further flow input in Consumers and possible modifications of Coincidence Factor in Trench Properties.

Figure 27. Manual method of the calculations
The flow is calculated separately for each Trench in the path to the Producer as a sum of provided flow in the Consumer.

  • Domestic water flow per unit – the value of water flow per unit (for the Nordic calculation method).

  • Domestic water flow coefficient – the value of water flow coefficient (for the Nordic calculation method).
  • Domestic water temperature [°C] - the value of domestic water temperature for calculation, data range 5-70°C, by default 55 °C.
  • Max velocity [m/s] – the value of maximum velocity for calculating the pipe diameters. If value is 0, the plug-in will not consider this parameter into calculations. The plug-in gives possibility to switch counting method to linear pressure drop.
  • Linear pressure drop [kPa/m] - pressure losses along the length of the line, by default 1 kPa/m. Determined by the inner diameter of the pipe, the length of the section, the coefficient of linear resistance, the density of the medium and the flow speed. If value is 0, the plug-in will not consider this parameter into calculations. The plug-in gives possibility to switch counting method to max velocity.
  • Consumer pressure drop [kPa] - pressure drop allowed in Consumers, by default 20kPa. Pressure drop at Consumer side, including required minimum pressure on the plumbing fixtures in the building and pressure losses on the installation. This value will be added to pump pressure head.

  • Circulation

    • Use circulation selection:
      • If checked, it enables circulation calculations in the project.
      • If not checked, the domestic water system will only contain supply pipe.
    • Calculation method:

      • Calculated – software calculates the appropriate pipe diameter based on the Circulation rate input .
      • TwoDimLess – software imposes the circulation pipe diameter of the two diameters less to supply pipe.
        • Circulation rate (value between 3-5) – user sets the number of water volume exchanges in the installation per hour. Only usable in Calculated method.
  • Pipes

    • Pipe type – select the pipe type from the list:
      • Aqua,
      • Vip Aqua,
      • Supra.
    • Use Twin pipes – If the option is checked, the plugin will prioritize searching for possible solutions using Twin pipes before considering Single pipes. This option is available after selecting the Circulation system in this tab.
    • Use Quattro pipes – if checked, the plugin will prioritize searching for possible solutions using Quattro pipes before considering Single pipes. Option available after selection of Heating, Domestic Water and Circulation system.

If both boxes are checked the plugin will search first for possible solutions using Quattro pipes, then Twin pipes and then Single pipes. By default, software always selects single pipes.

  • Fittings\ Junction insulation set preferences:

    • Prefer Tee – if checked, the plugin will create junctions using tees.
    • Prefer H-Vault – if checked, the plugin will create junctions using H-Vaults.\

If H-Vault is selected for HS and not for DWS, and quattro pipes are selected, the program should try to select H-vault for junction if possible. The same if heating system is unchecked and domestic water system is checked.

    • Use Q&E fittings – Q&E fittings will be used to create junction connections and connection points.
    • Use Wipex fittings – Wipex fittings will be used to create junction connections and connection points. If both are checked the plugin will first look for possible junction solutions using Tees, then, H-Vaults and the Chambers.
    • Connection type – depending on the selected fitting type choose the item from the drop-down list:
